Originally built as the Canal Warden’s house, this listed building in Carnforth was converted into a pub in 2001, and with its beautiful canalside location, it has become a real destination venue. New owners took over in 2018, and at The Barge Café you can enjoy brunch, lunch and dinner here every day.
When our doors open again you can drop in from 11am onwards for brunch, or maybe a coffee and a cake. The main menu is available right through from 12 noon until 8:30pm daily. Expect starters such as garlic breaded mushrooms, and mains like burgers, grills, lasagne, cottage pie and fish & chips, as well as light bites including sandwiches, paninis and jackets and soup, salad and all day breakfasts. The food offering is complemented by a good selection of wines, beers and spirits, as well as Lyons Coffee, Whittard Tea and Wallings Ice Cream.
The spacious conservatory was added a couple of years ago as part of a £250,000 refurbishment to really make the most of the canal views, and there is also a snug area and a mezzanine, which is ideal for parties and the regular music nights.
